Designed by the architect David Bastos, from the CASACOR São Paulo lineup, the design for this linear, garden-style apartment with 600 m², located in Vila Nova Conceição (SP), fulfills the wish of a young couple with two small children for an integrated, welcoming home with its own identity. The trusting relationship with the studio goes back a long way: previously, David Bastos had already designed the parents’ beach house, in Guarujá, as well as the brother’s apartment, which made it easier to read the family’s lifestyle and expectations.

The property is new and had already gone through the customization process with the developer, a stage that served as a starting point for a comprehensive design, in which all the projects were designed by the studio, without exception. A curious detail further reinforces this authorial presence: the building’s common areas were also designed by DB Arquitetos. Among the homeowners’ main requests were integrating the social area to host friends, creating functional spaces for day-to-day life with small children, and an atmosphere marked by personality, with the use of color but without losing lightness.

The main architectural intervention was the full integration of the side terrace into the apartment, a move that made it possible to enlarge the home theater, create a china pantry and a playroom, and to increase the bathrooms and bedrooms in that wing. The new configuration brings together an entry hall, living room integrated with the dining room, home theater, powder room, walk-in wine cellar, china pantry, balcony with gourmet area and pool, private circulation, three full suites with walk-in closets and bathrooms, playroom, master suite with walk-in closet, balcony and separate bathrooms for the couple, as well as kitchen, breakfast room, laundry, linen room and service area.

The project’s concept starts from making the most of the generous spaces to create comfortable and functional projects, maintaining a light atmosphere even with the expressive use of color and panels with boiseries. In the social area, the palette brings together shades of wine, pink, green and blue in soft versions, conveying youthfulness and joy.

In the private projects, each space received a specific color: olive green in the master suite, blue in the son’s bedroom, dusty pink in the daughter’s bedroom, light green in the playroom and dark blue in the kitchen.

The indoor living areas received millwork in natural European oak veneer, while the living room, kitchen and breakfast room are clad in honed Taj Mahal quartzite. In the bedrooms, the flooring is natural oak plank. The living room curtains combine gauze and linen drapery, and the seating area is anchored by an oversized rug measuring 6.20 x 5.50 meters, with an organic pattern in shades of lilac, green and off-white.

The furniture curation combines repurposed pieces from the clients’ collection — such as the Jangada armchair, by Jean Gillon, and the Pétala coffee table, by Jorge Zalszupin — with a careful selection of national and international design. Highlights include the Colette chairs, signed by Christophe Delcourt for Baxter; the Nuvola pendants, created by the duo Draga & Aurel, also for Baxter; the dining table by Estúdio Sette; the Pacha armchairs, by Pierre Paulin for Gubi; the Bulle side tables, in green glass, signed by Lucas Recchia; tables by Gallotti & Radice; authorial pieces by Draga & Aurel; outdoor furniture by Paola Lenti; and a custom coffee table, developed in partnership with Atelier BK and finished with tiles by Adriana Varejão.

The existing art collection was incorporated into the project with prominence and in direct dialogue with the spaces, bringing together works by names such as Di Cavalcanti, Janaina Mello Landini, Alexandre Arrechea and José Patrício. In the outdoor area, which integrates pool, lounge and gourmet area, the design stands out for the furniture by Paola Lenti, the retractable canopy by Stobag, the fluid relationship between architecture and the landscaping by Mauricio Prada, and the Pinot Grigio stone dining table, designed by the studio itself.
