This
apartment of
113 m² in Brooklin (SP) was designed to meet the needs of a couple who wanted to dialogue the
family heirloom furniture with a contemporary aesthetic. The design signed by
Ricardo Abreu - from the cast of
CASACOR São Paulo - resulted in a
retro and cozy style.

In the renovation, a large
balcony was incorporated into the
living rooms and a service room was converted to enlarge the living room and the service area. The private area maintained the original layout but received new electrical infrastructure and air conditioning. The original cumaru floor was preserved.

The
starting point and key of the project is the red granite, applied to the TV panel, gourmet island, and lavatory, which unifies the social
projects. To soften the original structural protrusions of the building,
a "second skin" of drywall created sinuous and organic shapes on the walls of the rooms. The solution highlights furniture pieces, such as the
old wooden dresser that belonged to one of the residents' mother.

The main difficulty - the integration of four functions (TV, living room, dining room, and gourmet) in a 49 m² living area - was solved by the visual unification of the surfaces in the same shade of red.
The retro aesthetic is reinforced by the use of hydraulic tiles with "ladies" pagination on the floor of the dining room and waste, as well as boiseries in the lavatory and the master suite. (Renato Navarro/Divulgação)
The kitchen reproduces the same retro aesthetic but transitions from red to green. The existing cabinetry was updated with green doors for the cabinets. The same green, in a different shade, was used in the master suite.
