Designed for a couple seeking a weekend retreat and, at the same time, a functional apartment for short-term rental, this 60 m² property in Ponta das Canas (SC) underwent a renovation that prioritized flexibility, flow, and identity, signed by architect Rico Mendonça – from the CASACOR Santa Catarina roster.

The kitchen, originally enclosed, was opened up and integrated with the living room, expanding the sense of space and strengthening the social area. The original finish of the barbecue grill was preserved, honoring the property's memory and ensuring practicality in use. A multifunctional counter was created to serve as a workstation and/or support surface, catering to both residents and guests.

Because it is located on the ground floor, the apartment inherits the height of the shops on the same level, resulting in a higher-than-usual ceiling height. "We took advantage of this feature in the living room, where we created a detail with wooden beams on the ceiling, bringing human scale and an immediate visual sense of welcome. The element, in addition to enhancing the verticality of the space, balances the architecture and reinforces the feeling of comfort and belonging," says the office.

The round table brings versatility to the project, allowing it to be positioned in different ways as needed, while the sofa bed complements the living room, providing extra support to receive visitors or comfortably accommodate guests.

In the private quarters, the corridor received a functional, contemporary solution: the bathroom sink was moved outside, optimizing the use of space. The bathroom door was relocated and the toilet repositioned, improving circulation. The project was enhanced with the inclusion of a bathtub, creating a distinctive experience for both the couple and for use on Airbnb.

The bedroom received a bench for shoes and objects, reinforcing everyday practicality. The wall in a soft pink tone conveys the romance desired by the client, introduced in a sober and clean way. The slatted headboard completes the project, bringing texture and a subtle beachy feel, in harmony with the location.
