Located in
Praia do Forte (BA), this
residence has
580 m² distributed over two floors and a basement. The project, designed by the firm
Sidney Quintela Architecture – part of
CASACOR Bahia – was made for a young couple with two children who wanted a refuge to gather with family and friends on weekends and holidays.
"The clients had a wide range of needs, as they wanted the house to accommodate as many family and friends as possible. They also wanted plenty of leisure space to suit everyone's preferences.
Although there were two lots, the big challenge was to build the house on only one of them, leaving the other free for the construction of a second house in the future ," explains the firm.
The layout was designed to make the most of natural light and ventilation in all rooms. On the ground floor, in addition to the social areas, two guest
suites were proposed: one with full accessibility to welcome friends and family with mobility difficulties, the other that functions as a reversible office and serves as support for the family's remote work during long stays.
In the living room, with double height ceilings, the highlight is the internal garden that houses and hides the TV.
The pivoting doors, together with the large window openings, allow total visual permeability with the outside environment, bringing the surrounding landscape into the space. To make better use of the occupancy rate with social areas on the ground floor, the garage, service areas and technical areas were allocated in the basement. On the upper floor, there are four large suites, including the master suite with a privileged view of the house's leisure area, a walk-in closet and individual bathrooms for the couple.
For the facades, the proposal was to use earthy tones that would blend in with the colors of the surrounding nature.
Wood is the predominant material and appears in the large panels of the frames, the pergola and the decorative panels on the facades. For outdoor furniture, vibrant colors like green and orange contrast with the more sober tones of the house and bring personality to the leisure areas. Indoors, light and grayish tones provide a sense of spaciousness and luminosity.
All areas of the project have natural lighting, as well as natural cross ventilation, providing greater thermal comfort and reducing electricity consumption. In addition, enough photovoltaic panels were installed on the roof to generate all the electricity needed to power the house's equipment.
