When a young couple rented an
apartment in Jardim Botânico (RJ), with
200 m², their desire was clear: to create a home that not only met their immediate needs but was also comfortable and flexible to accommodate the future demands of the residents.

To preserve the essence of the apartment, the couple sought architects
Maria Juliana Galvão and Alexia Carvalho, from
Mar Arquitetura and cast members of
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro, so that the renovation would prioritize functionality. The idea was for the loose furniture and cabinetry to be easily repurposed, allowing the space to adapt to the changes that life would bring them.

The
original layout of the apartment dates back to the 1950s and was designed from a social hall that connects the living and dining rooms with a more reserved area, now transformed into the couple's library.

In the
entrance hall, a bold and personalized atmosphere was created: the
wallpaper depicting the Atlantic Forest in shades of blue adds a vibrant touch to the projects, complemented by the marble floor with original mosaics. A loose cabinetry, with drawers and shelves for shoes, adds charm and functionality to the space.

"As the clients are book lovers, we created a
large semi-integrated library in the living room so that they could have a cozy space for reading. The bookshelf was designed with three sizes of loose boxes that overlap like a 'tetris', all to facilitate the assembly and disassembly of the furniture," says Maria Juliana.

The living room, with its original wooden frames, integrates the projects with the green of the street.

The color palette with
terracotta and Klein blue, highlighted by works of art and a coffee table, brings sophistication and lightness. The hemp and jute fiber rug, which recalls the beachy climate of Rio, completes the décor.

"The living room also features iconic pieces, such as the
Pigment table, inspired by Yves Klein, the
kinetic sculpture by Raul Mourão, and the
bench covered with tiles by Adriana Varejão in front of the window," adds Alexia Carvalho.

In the couple's
suite, nature was brought inside with shades of green in the headboard and embroidered fabric details, creating a calm and harmonious space. The wooden dresser and the hand-crafted paper diptych by Caroline Veilson add a touch of sophistication and personality.
