Facing the sea, a 415 m² apartment combines art and Italian design in the décor
Signed by architect David Bastos from DB Arquitetos and the cast of CASACOR Bahia, this linear apartment of 4,465 sq ft is located in the Vitória neighborhood in Salvador (BA), and was designed for a couple of entrepreneurs with three children. This is the third family to occupy the space, and all previous projects were also conducted by Bastos. The couple already lived in the area in a unit also designed by the firm.

The main requests included creating a wine cellar and maintaining the essence of the original floor plan, except in the private area, where the bathrooms were completely remodeled to transform three bedrooms into suites and divide the master suite closet into two independent spaces: the Her Closet and the Him Closet. After the renovation, the property began to house an open living room, dining room, and balcony integrated, as well as a kitchen, service area, staff quarters, powder room, circulation, office, and the four suites, including the master with separate closets.

The project concept prioritized the integration of the projects, creating a fluid and inviting circulation. The inspiration came from the clients' appreciation for art, which guided choices of colors, textures, and decorative elements, giving identity and personality to the spaces.

The contemporary decoration combines the collection of Italian furniture and clients' artworks – including works by Floriano Teixeira, Vik Muniz, Mario Cravo, Steve McCurry, and Eliana Kertész – with pieces already present in the apartment and new acquisitions carefully selected by the architect. "The main challenge of this project was to integrate all these elements, ensuring they all communicated with each other and resulted in a harmonious set," explains Bastos. In the social areas, neutral tones prevail, highlighting the furniture and the artistic elements in warmer and more vibrant colors. The limestone floor was preserved, while the living room walls received molded plaster in low relief, creating a boiserie effect, finished with gray paint.

The rug for the living area, created by the firm, combines an off-white base with fine and organic lines in earthy tones. In the couple's bedroom, the full fabric coverage and leather headboard offer comfort and sophistication.

The project, including construction and decoration, was completed in 12 months, resulting in a contemporary apartment that reflects the family's identity and harmoniously integrates art, design, and functionality. [gallery-april id="212516" type="slider" showtitle="undefined" data-restrict="false"]
