A regular visitor of
Búzios since her youth, architect
Mônica Gervásio – part of the
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro lineup – chose the resort in the Lagos Region as her weekend and vacation home. To do this, she and her brother bought two neighboring lots (totaling 1000 m²) and built two identical
houses designed by her,

"Since the lots are located in a projects preservation area, the space allocated for construction was very small. Instead of considering the two lots together to build something larger, we preferred to
build two smaller separate houses, each 150 m², for individual use, and share the outdoor area. The houses were completed at the same time," she adds.

Each house has three floors. The ground floor concentrates the
living room with a
gourmet kitchen (‘embraced' by a covered outdoor deck) and a washroom, while the upper floor contains the
master suite, with a private balcony. The lower floor features two suites accessed from the outdoor area, offering more privacy to guests.

The architect mentions that she fulfilled a long-time dream of building a beach house using ecological and natural materials, valuing the greenery from the native vegetation and landscaping to the maximum. Therefore,
the entire structure was built with eucalyptus logs from reforestation, with glass panels as closures to enhance natural light and natural woven fiber ceiling tiles. (Denilson Machado e Paula Chaffin/Divulgação)
The outdoor area features landscaping with
palms, bromeliads, monsteras, and a native aroeira, which already existed on the lot. In the shade, near the pool, there is a large wooden table designed by the architect, with director-style chairs.

All decorative items are new. Mônica prioritized light beige tones to create a beach-style decor with a relaxing atmosphere and reinforced it with natural materials such as woods, fibers, cotton, linen, and leather.

"The more vibrant colors appear in the hammocks scattered around the outdoor deck," she emphasizes.
Inside, the decor has a strong organic appeal, with wooden trunks supporting the stairs or serving as benches, both in the living room (with a ceiling height of 6 m) and in the kitchen. Straw is a very present element, including in the ceiling finishes. (Denilson Machado e Paula Chaffin/Divulgação)
Fabrics in neutral tones enhance the natural touch of the rooms. The flooring features the same large-format sand-colored porcelain tiles throughout all internal areas of the house.
