Get to know Taís Araújo and Lázaro Ramos' apartment in Rio de Janeiro

Before moving into their current apartment, actors Taís Araújo and Lázaro Ramos did a test: they rented the property in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro for two years, to test the adaptation, since the family had lived in a house for 10 years. When they decided to buy for real, they commissioned a complete renovation and decoration project from architects Carolina Escada and Patricia Landau, from Office Escala Arquitetura and cast CASACOR Rio. "As well as being very spacious, the apartment has high ceilings and a generous front balcony, with more than 50 m², which communicates with the social sector along its entire length, ensuring plenty of natural light inside the house," says Carolina. The work was started in 2023, as soon as the couple moved in with their children in the apartment upstairs, which was fortunately vacant and available for rent.

Among the new owners' main wishes for the project, the architects tell us that Lázaro asked to join the kitchen with the sala (because she loves to cook while hosting friends), make the office more organized and bright and create an elevated deck on the living room balcony to enjoy the view.

Taís, on the other hand, wanted to have a dressing room away from the intimate area to receive the hairdresser, make-up artist and stylist more freely, thus maintaining the privacy of the rooms. "We installed the dressing room in the hallway, opposite the toilet, with a sliding door that allows the space to be isolated," says Patricia. In general, the new layout drawn up by the architects has transformed some rooms (previously isolated) into integrated and flexible spaces, with sliding doors that allow them to be isolated again. The decoration, although made up of predominantly new Brazilian furniture with a signature design, was designed to give the residents a sense of belonging, since they participated in every choice and detail of the project. In addition, all the works of art and objects linked to the couple's history have been incorporated into the new home, imprinting their identity and affective memories in every corner. "In the color palette, we highlighted earthy and pinkish tones, with touches of green and blue, present even in the granite floor of the kitchen. In the selection of fabrics, we prioritized natural materials, with textures that provide warmth," Carolina concludes.
