A spacious house in Humaitá (RJ), measuring
647 m², had already housed the family for some time. But with five children, ages ranging from 6 to 18, and only four
bedrooms and three
bathrooms, its spaces no longer met everyone's needs. A major renovation was necessary - and this was the responsibility of the
Mauricio Nóbrega Arquitetura office, part of the
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro line-up.

It was necessary for the project to transform the private area, including creating individual suites for all residents and also improving circulation in the social area, with a new, more fluid layout integrated with the
garden.

"It was a project that involved the entire family, actually. We talked a lot not only with the couple of owners but also with their children to deliver the house they wanted with an informal, relaxed projects and the personality of each one," he shares.

In the external area, the professional created a
pergola that allowed for a counter with a barbecue and wine cellar, as well as a gourmet area. The space is in front of the pool, which gained a charming tile panel from
Miguel Sereno.

The internal social area also featured a spacious sitting area connected to the garden. There, the decor made use of both the furniture and the artworks and objects that the couple had already collected, giving the projects the personality that the family so desired. "This way, we expanded the leisure space of the house without changing the traditional architecture of the property," the architect explains.

On the second floor of the residence, the transformations were even greater. Since it was necessary to create more suites, the solution was to remove an existing closet, eliminating the entire circulation area and completely reconfiguring the spaces.
This way, each of the five children gained their own room with a bathroom, plus a common use room. And the couple could still keep their master suite with a work area, an intimate room, and a small individual terrace.
