Located on Praia das Laranjeiras, in Paraty (RJ), Casa ELL is the result of an exquisite exercise in architectural integration. Designed by the SUITE office – part of the CASACOR São Paulo lineup –, the project arises from the meeting between a pre-existing structure from the 1980s and a new construction, designed to expand the horizons of a family with two children towards the exuberant landscape of the Atlantic Forest.

The central challenge of the intervention was to preserve the memory of the original construction without giving up a contemporary language. With approximately 550 m² of total area, the program was strategically distributed: the original two-story volume was reorganized to host guests, the intimate living room, and the service areas. The extension, a linear 300 m² block, runs along the length of the lot to house the main communal spaces and the family's private wing.

In the new volume, the children's bedrooms connect directly to the garden, while the master suite, on the upper floor, unveils a privileged view of the sea. The boundary between interior and exterior is dissolved by large openings that invite the pool and the greenery into the house, creating a living experience in constant dialogue with the tropical climate.

The material palette is a tribute to the local building culture and the texture of nature. Stone, raffia, and solid wood cover façades and interiors, conferring a tactile organicity to the spaces.

In the details, the project reveals its affective curatorship. Elements such as the biriba doors, the rustic wood panel, and the pergola that unites the two volumes not only connect the structures but reinforce the identity of the ensemble as a unique work.

The interior design celebrates Brazilian craftsmanship, with raffia lamps, gourd sculptures, and furniture made of tree trunks, bringing layers of history and culture to daily domestic life.
