Located in the Quinta da Baroneza gated community, between Itatiba and Bragança Paulista (SP), about 90 km from the São Paulo state capital, this country house, with an L-shaped layout, designed by the Deborah Roig Arquitetos Associados firm (part of the CASACOR São Paulo lineup), occupies a 7,000 sqm lot — the result of joining two neighboring plots — and totals 1,900 sqm of built area, distributed across two floors plus a basement.

In his 60s, married, with four children and grandchildren, the owner wanted a second home for frequent use, from Thursday to Monday, focused on family gatherings. With no formal references of style or architectural approach, he granted Deborah full creative freedom, setting only two objective requests: nine en-suite bedrooms to comfortably accommodate the entire family and a gym to maintain his daily training routine. According to Deborah, he was immediately enchanted by the 3D images presented and requested that the construction remain faithful to the approved concept.

Located on a corner in the highest part of the gated community, the lot had a steep slope — a condition that guided the placement decisions. The house was set on a single plateau, with main access from the side, leading directly to the social area. The pool and gathering spaces were strategically positioned to highlight the sunset view, while an elevator connects all levels.

“The biggest challenge was working with the topography and the extensive program without making the house look disproportionate. Even at 1,900 sqm, it fits naturally into the terrain, and the basement under the pool is barely noticeable,” Deborah explains.

The entrance is through three pivoting doors that lead to an atrium with a double-height ceiling, the central element of the project. The space, marked by large glass panels and cross ventilation, houses an imposing tree that reinforces the integration between interior and landscape, designed by Roberto Riscala (also part of the CASACOR São Paulo lineup).

The architectural language combines masonry with an attached metal structure and wooden mashrabiya panels, both fixed and hinged, which brought a striking and distinctive element to the project.Aluminum slatted eaves and ceilings with a wood-look finish create visual continuity, while transparent guardrails and large glazed surfaces enhance the relationship with the surroundings.

The side access façade was clad in Moledo stone, lending texture and character to the ensemble. These elements with exquisite detailing create a powerful architecture and incredible spans that shape an intriguing volumetry. The ground floor houses the atrium, lounge, living room with fireplace, dining room, walk-in wine cellar for around 700 labels, home theater, kitchen with island, powder room, and a suite. The upper floor holds the other eight suites, including the master, which features an intimate sitting area and independent closet and bath areas for him and her.

The basement houses the caretaker's quarters and a garage with ten parking spaces, accommodating the owner's car collection. In the outdoor area, the swimming pool with hydromassage, clad in Travertino Navona marble, integrates with the spa and the gourmet area located at the end of the "L", near the gym and a semi-covered atrium.

Conceived under the concept of well-being, the residence prioritizes abundant natural lighting and constant ventilation. The materiality reinforces the welcoming atmosphere: woodwork panels in natural freijó veneer, slatted Tauari ceiling, sections of Moledo stone walls, and Travertino Navona flooring, which also extends to the outdoor areas, promoting continuity between interior and exterior.

The interior design follows the timeless contemporary line of the architecture, with a neutral base in natural and earthy tones — greens, off-whites, and browns — and a strong presence of light woods. Much of the furniture was purchased by the clients themselves specifically for the house, faithfully following the layout developed in the project. In the living room, highlights include the Benjamim armchairs with stool and the Mucki bench by Sergio Rodrigues, the Omar chairs by Rejane Carvalho Leite, the coffee table by Isabelle de Mari, and the Ufo pendant lamps by Fernando Prado.

Between design, approval, and execution, including the completion of the décor, the process took two years and eight months, resulting in a spacious yet balanced house, designed to welcome the family with comfort and integration with the landscape.
