The couple with a 12-year-old daughter already lived in this building located in Leblon (RJ) when they decided to buy the current
apartment, measuring
150 m². As soon as they received the keys to the property, the couple commissioned architect
Bianca da Hora, from the cast of
CASACOR Rio, to create a complete renovation project.

"Regarding the layout, the clients asked to open the
kitchen and one of the
bedrooms to the
living room and convert the space of the former bedroom into an office, with
folding doors designed by the carpenter that allowed the spaces to be isolated when necessary. They also requested to make the three remaining bedrooms into suites, as only one had a
bathroom", says Bianca.
Additionally, the wife asked to turn the social bathroom into a powder room, with striped walls in white and black. (Juliano Colodeti, do MCA Estúdio/CASACOR)
In the decor, the husband requested to add
Brazilian design furniture to the family's collection, especially from
Sergio Rodrigues, as well as wooden flooring to bring coziness. "For this reason, we preserved and restored the
original peroba-do-campo hardwood floor, both in the living room and in the bedrooms," explains the architect.

In general,
the concept of the project aimed to create spacious, integrated and cozy spaces, with a strong presence of natural wood, which can be seen in the finish of the carpentry made of freijó (with a highlight on the shelves, the wall and ceiling panels, and the folding doors designed by the architect), in the original flooring and in the structure of most of the furniture. To filter natural light and make the spaces more inviting, white linen sheer curtains were installed in the living room and the couple's bedroom, wooden blinds in the office, and a
roman shade in the daughter's room.

In the decor, the client's old apartment included the sofa, the armchair with
Mole stool (by Sergio Rodrigues), the coffee table, the double bed, and the pendant light over the dining table. All the other furniture is new, some designed by renowned designers, particularly the
pair of Oscar chairs (in the living room), the
Beg armchair and the
stool Mocho (in the office), all by Sergio Rodrigues.

The architect adopted a neutral color palette to highlight the artworks and colorful decorations that were already part of the residents' collection, without visually weighing down the spaces. The color green also makes an appearance, in a more sober olive tone, in the kitchen cabinets, in the upholstery of the armchair with Mole stool (by Sergio Rodrigues), and in the low sideboard behind the sofa. "The black and white plaid rug, made of cotton and silk, brought a touch of modernity to the living room," notes Bianca.

"Our greatest challenge in this project was to reconcile the tight deadline and the clients' budget. Since they already lived in the building and wanted to move as quickly as possible, we left some details of the decor and the choice of certain furniture to be resolved once the family was already settled in the property," concludes architect Bianca da Hora.
