Located in Ipanema (RJ), this old triplex apartment is being renovated in stages by architect
Bianca da Hora (from the cast of
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro) for a family made up of a couple and twin children. The renovation of the apartment's terrace, measuring
150 m², is part of the second stage of the renovation and has just been completed.

"
The client requested to expand the living area and have the option to isolate and cool the space on hotter days, use the same covering in the pool and sauna, and equip the gourmet area with a barbecue, pizza oven, built-in oven, refrigerator, and TV", the architect reports.

Originally, the terrace was a space without any personality, with a confusing and poorly utilized layout decorated with furniture in various styles that did not connect with each other. With the renovation, the architect incorporated to the existing protective coverage
a metallic structure (with glass closing and the interior lined with varnished natural rush) to increase the living area and better integrate it with the new gourmet area.

The terrace then began to feature a
gourmet area with a dining table and covered living area, a sauna, and a suspended spa pool, surrounded by an extensive wood deck in two levels that also serves as a bench, providing extra seating on busy days.

According to Bianca da Hora, the concept of the project aimed to create a relaxing
projects, characterized by shades of green – present in the cabinets, countertops (made of Verde Guatemalan marble), some cushions, plants, and covering of the pool and sauna (made of Bari Green marble) – combined with the earthy tones of the wood and Travertino Navona marble flooring.

In the decoration, with the exception of the dining table top, which came from the client's old office and received a new base designed by the office, all items are new. "We sought durable furniture, but with a homey feel. We opted for a light simple sofa to contrast with the color and complexity of the ropes and finishes of the chairs. The coffee table follows the same rustic style of the reused top of the dining table, creating a
link between the two environments," explains the architect.

Another highlight of the project are the
planters created by the architect and executed in Travertino Navona marble (the same material as the flooring), with tall plants that bring more privacy to the residents. "Our greatest challenge in this project was to build the new coverage structure, cool the living area, and fit the various equipment the client wanted into a countertop that, despite being large, was completely filled with them," she concludes.
