Moving to an intense metropolis like São Paulo is not always a smooth transition. When 40-year-old geologist Pedro Cordeiro changed cities to work in the financial market in the bustling Faria Lima area, he knew he needed a home with the soul of a house, space for his two cats, a functional kitchen to host friends and, above all, a welcoming atmosphere that would ease the absence of an open outdoor view.

The challenge of shaping this spatial narrative was given to the firm Ricardo Abreu Arquitetos, a professional from the CASACOR São Paulo lineup. Located in the traditional Bela Vista neighborhood, the 120 sqm property underwent a complete renovation: the original floor plan of the old building — marked by rigid divisions that included three bedrooms (one suite), living room, kitchen and service quarters — was completely demolished in the social area. One of the bedrooms, the kitchen and part of the laundry were torn down to make way for a fully integrated, fluid living room bathed in natural light. The old service room was strategically absorbed to expand the bathrooms and create a generous closet for the master suite.

During the demolition process, the lack of original building blueprints brought surprises: two large structural pillars were revealed in the middle of the way. Instead of camouflaging them, the team chose to incorporate them into the layout. One of them, in fact, came to house an affective work of art: an original Athos Bulcão tile properly framed.

It was from this modernist piece, in fact, that the chromatic identity and concept of the project were born. Blue takes on the role of the guiding thread, manifesting itself in the woodwork, on the walls of the living room and in the hydraulic tiles with a bird design that line the imposing kitchen island and the niches in the living room.

Since the urban surroundings did not offer an open landscape, the firm designed the layout along an ingenious diagonal line facing the entrance of the home. Thus, whoever crosses the door is gently invited to direct their gaze toward the interior of the apartment, where the furniture — led by the iconic Guaruçá Armchair, designed by Maurício Arruda, also from the CASACOR São Paulo lineup — pairs with the original restored wooden parquet flooring.

The choice of natural materials and tactile textures reinforces the desire for well-being and biophilia. Plants of various species spread throughout the projects, dialoguing with concrete and tile. The transition to the private areas reveals a sensitive study of complementary colors: the office and guest room received a terracotta tone, a hue that extends to the social bathroom and creates visual warmth points. Designed for the home office, the space also gained custom solutions so the felines can enjoy the owner's company during work hours.

In the suite bathroom, the monolithic stone countertop was purposely set away from the wall to gain lightness and prominence, sharing the scene with an immersion bathtub.

"The final apartment turned out more beautiful than the project itself. I didn't know it had this look — the studio really understood my personality and translated it here", sums up the resident.
