A couple of lawyers and their two young daughters had lived for years in a apartment of 500 m² in Jardim Oceânico, Barra da Tijuca (RJ). Over the course of eight years, the architect Ana Cano - from the CASACOR Rio team - made several changes to the family's space. The last of these changes was interrupted by the pandemic and when it was possible to resume the project, the residents, who had originally only planned to redesign the outside area, decided to give the whole house a new look.

"With every change we implement, we add a new chapter to this constantly evolving story," says Ana. The swimming pool represented a special challenge in the project. The existing structure didn't allow it to reach the desired depth, so the shape, previously round, became rectangular, and the deck was extended. This opened up a lateral circulation, which allowed the area to be integrated with the rest of the house. The pool, which wasn't used much, became the central point of fun and leisure for the family.

In the living room, the new lighting project brought a new atmosphere to the room. A wine cellar area and a spacious sofa were added, offering as much comfort for watching movies as for enjoying the balcony, which had its layout changed and was given new furniture.

In the the girls' room, the balconies were transformed to incorporate an aerial bed, a dressing room for storing costumes and a little house full of toys. "We incorporated their dreams and fantasies into every detail, creating a space that will grow with them over the years," says Ana.
