"Ninho" is a word that carries a lot of symbolism—and goes far beyond its literal meaning. In the dictionary, it is the place where birds nurture and protect their young. But in everyday life, it is used to refer to a space of comfort, safety, and love. That’s why it is also the name of this 80 m² apartment designed by Natália Coelho – part of the CASACOR Bahia lineup in Salvador. The family of residents consists of a mother and her two daughters at different stages of life: the eldest is studying psychology, and the youngest is just a baby. "They are beautiful women who protect and support each other," says the architect. For them, the apartment was designed to be welcoming and practical: the kitchen and the balcony were integrated to create greater spaciousness in the social area, and the wood-like vinyl that covers the floor of the apartment brings coziness. "Since the mother loves a good coffee, we have a coffee corner on the balcony area. This space is marked by wood that also creates the portico surrounding the area," says Natália. Practical solutions like the island for quick meals and the mirror support make the routine more intuitive and dynamic. "The oldest daughter asked for the room to have an interesting setting that didn’t look like a typical bedroom, and that’s why we brought the slatted design along the entire length of the bed with decorative frames," says the architect. In the baby’s room, the Montessori style was designed to offer more independence and progression for the child, with an adjustable table to accompany growth and a low bed. Here, the chosen theme was garden. "We created a wall with pink butterflies that brings movement to the room, a rattan cabinet, and a bed panel that resembles a little house with windows," concludes the professional.
