Designed by architect Juliana Cascaes (from the CASACOR São Paulo lineup), the renovation of this penthouse of 630 sqm, in São Paulo, stems from a clear gesture: highlighting the panoramic view of the city as the protagonist of the project. The property, previously marked by a classic configuration, with beige tones, compartmentalized projects and doors that limited integration with the balcony, underwent a complete transformation of layout and aesthetic language. The result is a contemporary, functional apartment aligned with the young profile of the residents.

Upon visiting the property, the architect immediately identified the potential of the urban landscape — a privileged feature since it is a penthouse. However, the former internal layout reduced the visual impact right at the entrance, especially due to the presence of doors that isolated the balcony, then used as a playroom.

The strategy was to fully integrate living room and balcony, allowing the view of São Paulo to become an active part of daily life and to be present from the first contact with the apartment. The spatial reorganization also included swapping the living/TV areas with the dining room, preventing the table from being the focal point when entering the property. The change brought fluidity, better circulation and greater functional coherence to the ensemble.

One of the pillars of the renovation was the reuse of existing furniture. Instead of discarding pieces previously acquired by the owners, the architect chose to transform them through wrapping and specific adaptations. The old china cabinet from the dining room was wrapped to become gray with blue details and was converted into furniture for the new playroom, receiving open niches and a wooden panel for the TV. The piece of furniture that previously housed the television gained a glass side closure and now functions as a china cabinet.

The dining table was wrapped, keeping its original base, and only the chairs were replaced. In the kitchen and the gourmet area, joinery and appliances were also revitalized with new finishes.

To meet the couple's wish to always keep their young son close by, the playroom was moved to the former dining room space. The projects gained a mirrored door that ensures versatility: on a day-to-day basis, it remains open, integrating the spaces; when receiving guests, it can be closed, visually organizing the projects and expanding the perception of the living room through the reflection.

The change in language was also consolidated through the careful selection of finishes and sober colors, prioritizing timeless and low-maintenance materials. Highlights include the concrete-look flooring, the staircase clad in Matrix Gold stone, the brick tiles applied in the kitchen, as well as doors and millwork in shades of gray.

The ceiling clad in dark wood is one of the central elements of the new atmosphere. In addition to contributing to thermal and acoustic comfort, the material brought coziness and established an elegant contrast with the cement-look flooring, creating a balanced and contemporary composition.

The project also showcases iconic design pieces that reinforce the identity of the setting. Among them, the Up armchair, created by Gaetano Pesce, takes a prominent role in the living room. The composition is completed by the Cheig bench and the Twist coffee table, designed by Jader Almeida, along with works by artist Rita Duarte, which add artistic expression and personality to the space.

Inspired by São Paulo's urban landscape, the project transformed a classic apartment into a more sober, welcoming, and contemporary projects, suited to the lifestyle of a young couple who enjoy hosting friends and family. The integration between the balcony and social areas, the strategic reuse of furniture, and the choice of natural materials define the pillars of the renovation — resulting in a penthouse that combines aesthetics, functionality, and identity, with the city as a permanent backdrop.
