151 m² apartment gains personality with green kitchen and curved layout

Located in the Itaim Bibi neighborhood (SP), this apartment of 151 m² designed by architect Barbara Dundes – part of the CASACOR São Paulo lineup – is the translation of a lifestyle that values lightness, quality materials, and the history of its inhabitants. Designed for a couple – she is from Rio de Janeiro and he is from Espírito Santo – the property underwent a deep renovation to balance the urban sophistication of São Paulo with the freshness and clarity of the atmosphere of Rio de Janeiro.

The visual starting point was the very architecture of the building, marked by a curved facade and compartmentalized floor plan. The architect embraced this geometry, softening the pillars with rounded corners and positioning the furniture, like the organic dining table, diagonally to follow the facade's design. In the ceiling, the use of wood not only brings warmth but also serves technical functions: it improves acoustics for the high-performance sound system — a central desire of the owners — and camouflages the air conditioning infrastructure.

In the social area, national design is the protagonist. The careful hunting brought iconic pieces like the Bowl armchair by Lina Bo Bardi and the Zeca armchair by Zanini de Zanine, creating a dialogue between different generations of Brazilian furniture. The living area integrates with the gourmet balcony, totaling an area of 47 m², where natural textures and green pots reinforce the connection to the outdoors.

The kitchen is a chapter apart. Meeting the couple's emotional request for a green projects, the architect used a special wood veneer to bring the desired tone in a sophisticated way. Flexibility is ensured by a textured panel that allows isolating the projects or keeping it completely open to the living room on reception days.

The intimate area was completely reconfigured. Originally with three suites, the layout was modified to prioritize the comfort of the master suite. Two bathrooms were unified to give way to a spacious bathing area, which now includes a sauna integrated into the shower box, transforming the bathing moment into a private spa. The closet follows the Italian standard with linen-textured doors and suspended shelves, uniting organization and elegance.

Every detail, from the coat rack in the entrance hall to the sculpted marble floor sink in the powder room, was designed to create a home that not only accommodates but resonates with the identity and passions of those who live in it.
