Telling stories through projects is one of the pillars of the office of Maria Araújo – part of the CASACOR Brasília team. "In this project, translating the journey of a newlywed couple into a home full of meaning proved to be a very gratifying challenge. By getting to know the residents more in-depth, we realized that the key to the design was to incorporate elements that hark back to their family roots," says the professional. The material chosen to anchor this narrative was steel. Due to its symbolic connection, it fused perfectly with the couple's story, helping to create a space full of meaning and becoming an essential element of the project. Located in Asa Sul, the original apartment required a deep renovation to adapt to the new lifestyle, modernizing its installations and structures while preserving its most authentically Brasiliense characteristics. In the floor plan, the focus of the office was on fluidity and functionality: the living room was enlarged to significantly improve circulation. The wet areas were redesigned, adding a half-bath and reconfiguring the old bathrooms for a more current layout. To meet the couple's needs, the team also created a new closet and a dedicated office. The kitchen was opened up to the living room, promoting integration and social interaction. In terms of materials, the focal point and true signature of the project resides in the raw metal panel that surrounds the entire living room. This element not only imprints a strong and industrial personality to the projects, but also performs a practical role: elegantly camouflaging the passages to the kitchen, intimate area, and half-bath. The base of the apartment was kept neutral to enhance the history and design pieces. The original wooden flooring was preserved, and the palette adopted white walls, shades of gray, and dark wood. The only break from this neutrality lies in the half-bath, which has become an unusual surprise. Completely clad – walls, ceiling, and floor – in green hydraulic tile, it injects a vibrant touch of color into the projects. The selection of furniture was handpicked by the office, promoting a balanced fusion between modernist and contemporary design. Highlighted is the iconic Poltrona Mole by Sérgio Rodrigues, in green leather, which brings an affectionate reference to the client’s parents' home. The projects also celebrate familial talent with pieces by architect and furniture designer Rafaela Gravia, the resident's sister, which add personality and harmony.
