With
150 m², this
apartment in Horto Florestal, in
Salvador (BA), underwent a complete transformation designed by architect
Mariana Leão, from the
CASACOR Bahia team. The property, originally consisting of three
bedrooms, was reconfigured to have two bedrooms, focusing on expanding the social areas. The residents, a young couple of business owners expecting their first child, were looking for a welcoming home that transmitted tranquility and was functional for daily life. "The main intention was to create something spacious and comfortable for their daily life, that transmitted calm and tranquility, without looking like a showroom and minimalistic apartment," explains Mariana. The work, which lasted eight months, included specific structural interventions. The
kitchen, now open to the
living room, gained a multifunctional countertop that serves both for quick meals and as a buffet. "With organic lines and the use of Casablanca marble, it creates a continuity and sensation of extension of the living room while keeping the work area and equipment hidden," states the architect.
The color palette follows a neutral and sophisticated base, with a predominance of light tones on the walls, cabinetry, and countertops. Classic elements such as boiseries and the marked veining of the marble add refinement. The oak wood flooring was chosen for the entire social and intimate areas. "The visual, thermal, and acoustic comfort of the wood and the contrast it creates with the light tones enchanted since the laying of the first plank," comments Mariana. The choice of furniture seeks the same balance between the contemporary and the affective. Furniture that offered comfort and invited use was prioritized, such as the Block sofa and the Serena chaise from
estudiobola. The Kudasay armchair, designed by
Ricardo Fasanello, shares space with family heirloom side tables. "Other timeless classic pieces gave a mature, timeless air to the apartment, without losing its youthful spirit," details Mariana. The final production, with paintings, works of art, and personal items such as an old rug inherited from the family, completes the homey atmosphere that the couple so desired.
