Giuliano Marchiorato - Japandi House. The term Japandi is attributed to the style of decoration that refers to the fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian influences based on the concepts of Wabi-Sabi and Hygge. In Japanese decoration, for example, it is possible to observe practical, simple and minimalist furniture. The Scandinavian style also presents organic elements in more basic forms and with few details. Both complement each other with their colors, materials and naturalness, resulting in a fresh, serene and welcoming environment. The Japandi style is the creative basis of the architect. With the purpose of balancing energy and bringing people closer to nature, Reiki is a Japanese technique whose main tool for achieving this harmony is the use of the body – more specifically the hands. Having a healthy and peaceful home is directly related to the well-being of those who live there , and therefore, adopting Reiki techniques to achieve physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health can be a good strategy.

Reiki Principles

The philosophy behind the technique is one of the main pillars that support and help decipher Reiki in practice. It is a series of exercises similar to the principles of mindfulness , which focus on the present moment – for this reason, the phrase "just for today" is repeated in all the principles:
  • Just for today: I am calm (to avoid stress)
  • Just for today: I trust (to minimize worries and anxiety)
  • Just for today: I am grateful (to appreciate what you have)
  • Just for today: I'm honest
  • Just for today: I am kind.

How does Reiki relate to the home?

Home is the place where we can recharge our batteries and find refuge – and although this may seem like a cliché, it is absolutely true. For this reason, Reiki is a very welcome technique to improve the health of the home, reduce anxiety in the residents and can even be related to immunity. The application of Reiki involves the process of restoring the "aura" of the space. It is possible to ensure this application by speaking to a specialist (usually a therapist).
Below, we have separated 3 tips on how to use the philosophy of Reiki in practice to ensure well-being for your home:

1. Ventilation

Opening the windows, washing the curtains and allowing natural light into your home is a great way to connect with nature and make the environment fresher and more airy.

2. Minimalist decoration

Opt for a more minimalist décor. The Japandi style, for example, can be a great guide for those looking for a more balanced home, without too many excesses, where comfort is the key word.

3. Use incense or scented candles

Items aimed at well-being, fire helps to burn impurities and the pleasant aroma can help with anxiety or simply make the environment more peaceful.
