Between the 11th and 20th of August, the IA - Institute of Contemporary Art of Ouro Preto holds the first edition of Ouro Preto Contemporary Art Week that will include several activations in different locations in the historic center and surroundings of the Minas Gerais city.
With its inauguration on August 11 , the date that celebrates the 79th anniversary of the Museu da Inconfidência, the 1st Ouro Preto Contemporary Art Week provides democratization and free access to the city's artistic and cultural assets through a revolutionary approach in the use of historical equipment.
The 1st Ouro Preto Contemporary Art Week provides new perspectives and enriching experiences , with different forms of interaction and artistic contemplation.
Experiences with contemporary art and pedagogical actions aim to expand the reflective dialogue between the past, represented by the baroque, and the artistic and contemporary present.
In an interdisciplinary approach, Art Week will explore endemic artistic expressions under the complexities of decolonial thought , as a critique in the deconstruction of stereotypes, in the appreciation of ethnic-racial diversity, in the fight against structural racism and in the promotion of cultural and intellectual production of historically excluded people and communities.
