The 18th edition of
SP–Arte – São Paulo International Art Festival, which brings together art and design galleries, publishers, magazines, museums and institutions in what is considered
one of the largest events in the Southern Hemisphere art market . Until Sunday, April 10, the thousands of works of art brought by exhibitors can be visited at a familiar address: the
Bienal Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park , which will once again host the event in its traditional format after the last event was held in a hybrid format, with virtual activities and in-person exhibitions at Arca – an industrial warehouse located in Vila Leopoldina.
In this edition, to crown the reopening of major exhibitions in the city of São Paulo, the fair will welcome
100 art galleries and
more than 30 design studios , as well as publishers and institutional participations that will be spread across three floors of the Pavilion. One new feature is that This year, unlike previous years, the event will present special projects that seek to
bring the market and the public closer to autonomous agents – such as artists and self-managed spaces – that make up the art system.
One of the initiatives to promote independent artists is
Radar SP–Arte , which includes the participation of
five collectives and independent spaces that present their projects in small commercial or institutional exhibitions. Also part of Radar SP–Arte is the exhibition
Hora grande , curated by Felipe Molitor, with nine artists who do not have commercial representation. In addition to Radar SP–Arte, the exhibition
Arte natureza: resignificar para viver , curated by Ana Carolina Ralston, considers the relationship between art and sustainability, with big names such as Ernesto Neto, Joseph Buys, Frans Krajcberg and Daiara Tukano.
This year, the fair will also continue its traditional
Talks program, to be held at the
Iguatemi Arena , on the second floor of the Pavilion. Curator
Jacopo Crivelli Visconti , who was in charge of the last curation of the São Paulo Biennial, and
curator Ana Roman , assistant curator of the last Biennial, will lead the conversations with artists and curators who promise to discuss artistic work on April 7, 8 and 9.
Also, from April 7 to 10, the same space will host editorial launches and will serve as a space for socializing and relaxation during the fair. For more information, visit the
