The connection between the research of artists
Ione Saldanha (Alegrete, 1919 – Rio de Janeiro, 2001) and
Etel Adnan (Beirut, 1925 – Paris, 2021) will be presented in the unprecedented exhibition that
Simões de Assis is showing from May 30th at
Casa Gerassi , in Alto de Pinheiros, in São Paulo.
Curated by Luiz Camillo Osório, the selection of paintings that make up “Ione Saldanha & Etel Adnan” highlights the
artists’ interest in color , the development of intuitive abstraction, attention to the environment and the search for unique compositions. Furthermore, the exhibition is also an
invitation to immerse yourself in modernism , given its presentation space: Casa Gerassi, designed in 1991 by architect
Paulo Mendes da Rocha , and which will be the
temporary address of Simões de Assis for the next few months.
“In this exhibition, which attempts a
first dialogue between these two artists, we also have the articulation of their works with the brutalist and oxygenated architecture of Paulo Mendes da Rocha”, comments curator Luiz Camillo Osório.
