Until August 25, the
Sesc Pompeia Social Area will host the exhibition "
Quase Circo - Carmela Gross ", curated by Paulo Miyada. The exhibition by the São Paulo visual artist provides a comprehensive reading of her works, highlighting the diversity of her production and her
contribution to architecture, urban history and the contemporary artistic panorama . The exhibition highlights the convergence between Gross’s creations and
Lina Bo Bardi ’s visionary architecture, offering visitors an immersion into the artist’s works. Without adhering to labels or conventions, Carmela Gross’s visual narrative challenges expectations and invites viewers to
explore new perspectives .

The exhibition brings together
13 works displayed on a large scale; in addition, visitors will have access to
light panels, videos and drawings in the Social Area, along with two works previously exhibited at Sesc Pompeia: "RIO MADEIRA" (1990) and "ESTANDARTE VERMELHO" (1999). Also noteworthy is the work "GATO", created especially for the exhibition and installed on the walkways of the sports complex, inspired by a drawing by Lina Bo Bardi.

For the regional director of Sesc São Paulo, Luiz Deoclécio Massaro Galina, the initiative is part of a series of exhibition projects hosted at Sesc Pompeia in recent years, with the aim of revisiting historical productions by names that were decisive for the understanding of Brazilian art. “Carmela Gross’ work connects to another dimension valued by the entity, namely, knowledge, sensitivity to architectural spaces and their multiple uses, including in the sense of challenging them. A factory refounded as a center for leisure and artistic-cultural dissemination, in a historical period when urban industrial complexes lost their function, is particularly appropriate for this,” he highlights. The exhibition will be open to the public until
August 25, 2024 and will feature educational activities throughout this period.
