After eight years of renovation, the
Sesc Avenida Paulista building was reopened to the public on April 29. The center is part of the new cultural corridor on Avenida Paulista, which also includes Japan House and the Instituto Moreira Salles. The new The unit has 17 floors and two basements, with a built area of 12 thousand m².
The 1970s building was originally designed by architects Sérgio Pileggi and Euclides de Oliveira and was revamped by the Königsberger Vannuchi architecture firm - the same firm that will be responsible for the revitalization of the Jockey Club of São Paulo in partnership with Levisky Arquitetos. The proposal is that the space is an extension of the avenue itself, with large accesses and the use of non-reflective glass, which reveals the activities inside the building.

The fourth floor, for example, is a technology and arts laboratory. There is also space for exhibitions, sports activities, dental clinics, a gym, a library and a bike rack with 40 spaces. On the roof, a café with a lookout offers a 360º view of the region and houses a vegetable garden, where the spices used in the restaurant are grown. Among the sustainable actions adopted in the construction are the use of solar panels to heat showers, smart elevators and escalators, green roofs and walls for thermal control and reuse of rainwater.
