Miami Art and Design Week debuts optimistically and with new features
The largest fair in the segment, Art Basel Miami and the celebrated Miami Design resume activities this week in a bustling post-pandemic scenario

With the resumption of in-person events, one of Miami's most popular Art and Design weeks, anchored by Art Basel Miami, is back on the Brazilian calendar. The first in-person editions since 2019 of the fairs Art Basel Miami, Design Miami, Untitled, Pinta, among others are happening now. From December 1st to 5th, the public will be able to visit the various events that are taking place in the capital of Florida, in the USA.

Among 254 galleries from 36 countries, the following Brazilian galleries will be present at Art Basel Miami : A Gentil Carioca, Casa Triângulo, Central Galeria, Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel, Galeria Estação, Galeria Jaqueline Martins, Galeria Luisa Strina, Galeria Millan, Gomide & Co Luciana Brito Gallery, Mendes Wood DM, Nara Roesler and Simões de Assis. In addition, the most popular international galleries such as Gagosian and David Zwirner continue to lead the art market. There are also presentations from museums and private collections .

Listed as new are: the opening of the De la Cruz Private Collection inside the De La Cruz family home in Key Biscayne and the Ovando Floral exhibit, a sensory experience created by artist Sandra de Ovando with more than 600 orchids. Untitled remains with the same structure set up on the beach and offers traditional presentations, events and performances by artists. The novelty from Brazil is the presence of the Portas Vilaseca gallery among the 145 international galleries and organizations.

Design Miami presents itself as an exhibition space that goes beyond a fair , offering a space for discussion about collectible design. The novelty is that it is the first major fair to accept cryptocurrencies as a form of payment.
