How to preserve knowledge and techniques? This is the question that motivated the non-profit organization Artesol to create the first digital platform in the world that brings together artisans, traders and buyers. The objective of the project, launched this Tuesday (27), is to create a true network that, through its contacts, allows the maintenance and permanence of crafts as a way of life.
Brazilian craftsmanship is much more than just a collection of pieces. It contains extremely rich cultural elements and traits, full of the syncretism that makes up the so-called “Brazilianness”. However, as these techniques are not formalized in documents, books or manuals, there was a permanent risk of its extinction.
The fear that artisanal knowledge would be lost, as new generations showed no interest in perpetuating it, justifies the importance of Artesol 's pioneering initiative. The network functions as a large database, with works, biographies and images available. In addition, Furthermore, it is a way of putting artisans in contact with the market and other artists in Brazil, valuing their work.
Socorro e suas irmãs desde a infância se dedicaram a confeccionar bonecas e, com elas, sonhos. A Casa da Boneca Esperança nasceu da iniciativa de Socorro e Aderita, com a mediação da Artesol. (Divulgação)
