Pinacoteca celebrates 100 years of Modern Art Week in new exhibition

Among the works on display, it is possible to see the painting Amigos, by Di Cavalcanti, which was part of the Modern Art Week in 1922

Pinacoteca 100 years of Modern Art Week Modernism Exhibition Tarsila do Amaral

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Modern Art Week , the Pinacoteca de São Paulo presents, until December 31, 2022, the exhibition " Modernism. Highlights from the collection ". Among the more than 1,000 works spread across the 19 rooms that make up the "Pinacoteca: Acervo" exhibition, at least 134 works are linked to modernism – and, among the works, there is also the historic painting Amigos, by Di Cavalcanti , which was present in 1922 at the Modern Art Week in São Paulo.

Works related to modernism can be identified by a label. Also highlighted in this program are the following works: Anthropophagy, by Tarsila do Amaral; Self-portrait, by Victor Brecheret; Bananal, by Lasar Segalli; Couple on the balcony, by Cicero Dias; Two Brothers, by Ismael Nery; Perfume Bearer, by Victor Brecheret; Portrait of Gofredo Silva Telles, Lasar Segall; and São Paulo, Tarsila do Amaral.
The exhibition is also part of Agenda Tarsila , an initiative by the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of the State of São Paulo that brings together commemorative events, new content with information, history, curiosities and interviews about the Modern Art Week of 1922 , considered one of the landmarks most important in Brazilian culture .
