The Palácio das Mangabeiras , the iconic headquarters of CASACOR Minas Gerais in 2021, which will also host the event in 2022, opens its doors to a new cultural destination: the Parque do Palácio , a leisure space for residents of the city of Belo Horizonte that aims to offering artistic, cultural and gastronomic experiences amidst gardens designed by Burle Max and the beautiful view of Serra do Curral. Last Wednesday (27/04), the former official residence of the governors of Minas Gerais opened for the exhibition " Sculptures in the Park ", by sculptor and artist Amilcar de Castro.

“We propose to unite art, nature, good food with a unique historical, architectural and landscape heritage of Belo Horizonte, where visitors can feel safe and refreshed, experiencing the attractions that will be part of the program. The first of these is the exhibition by Amilcar de Castro, one of the greatest artists from Minas Gerais of all time and one of the most significant artists in Brazilian art in the 20th century”, highlights the space’s manager, João Grillo.
The exhibition brings together 20 large sculptures – between four and seven tons – spread over an area of four thousand square meters in the Palace gardens. They are cut and folded works made of steel and sculptures also cut in steel, most of which were loaned from the collection of the Amilcar de Castro Institute. Curated by João Grillo. In 2021, Palácio das Mangabeiras hosted CASACOR Minas Gerais , an event recognized for contributing to the recovery of culture through the recovery and restoration of historical heritage sites and for generating visibility and accessibility to listed projects. The event is already a confirmed attraction for 2022 at the Park. of the Palace, and will occupy a new area not yet known to the event's public , so as not to interrupt the park's operation.
