Last Sunday (20), CASACOR Bahia received family members of modernist painter Jenner Augusto da Silveira to appreciate, for the first time, a panel by the artist that was restored and is on display at the exhibition. The work, called "The Railway", dates back to 1958 and was custom-made for the Feira de Santana Railway Station. The panel was found by the director of CASACOR Bahia , Carlos Amorim, in a warehouse of the extinct Federal Railway Network, next to the Calçada station, in Salvador. "This panel has not been seen since the 1970s. Restoring it and re-presenting it to Bahian society is an honor. It is a tribute we pay to the family of this great artist and a gift to the people of Bahia," says Amorim. The work is under the care of the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN), which was present at the ceremony in the person of its director Bruno Tavares. 
"We are happy, because preserving Brazilian intangible memory is one of the pillars of Iphan", explains Tavares. The restoration work was carried out by Studio Argolo, under the command of restorer and professor José Dirson Argolo and his team. "This is a oil panel on Eucatex, divided into six modules. It is a jewel of Bahian modernism. Jenner was one of the pioneers of modern art in Bahia and Sergipe. He joined names such as Mário Cravo, Genaro de Carvalho, Ligia Sampaio and Carlos Bastos that took Bahia out of the artistic stagnation we had been experiencing since the beginning of the 20th century."
