The Ipiranga Museum , in São Paulo, is open to the public, fully restored , modern and twice as large . Designed by engineer and architect Tommaso Gaudencio Bezzi in 1895, the museum was closed in 2013 due to serious conservation and safety problems , which led, in 2019, to an intense restoration process .

Now, through its 11 new exhibitions , packed with multimedia resources in fully accessible environments, the museum invites visitors to marvel at renowned works of art and learn more about the history of Brazil . CASACOR has already been to the new Ipiranga Museum and, below, we tell you what we saw that was surprising about this reopening!

Various multisensory resources

Being able to touch and feel the main works of art and objects is one of the new features of the reopening of the Ipiranga Museum. Along the entire route, it is possible to find more than 300 multisensory resources accessible to all audiences, such as tactile screens, models and enlarged replicas of various artifacts from the exhibitions. In addition, 70 multimedia pieces accompany the entire route and have subtitles in libras (Brazilian sign language).

Throughout the museum's 11 exhibitions, you can come across impressive models: one of them is the one that reproduces the center of the city of São Paulo in 1841 , which was designed in the 1920s by the Dutchman Henrique Bakkenist . In addition, there is a large model that The Ipiranga Museum also has a special room where you can see every detail designed and conceived of the monumental building .

Neoclassical Architecture

The monumental building features neoclassical architecture , which is inspired by Italian architecture from the Renaissance period and characterized by arches , columns , pediments and geometric shapes , as well as impeccable symmetry.

A new Noble Hall

Considered the most important space in the museum, the Salão Nobre was not left out of the restoration process. The new monochromatic proposal of the space allows to further enhance the painting " Independência ou Morte" (Independence or Death ), by the artist from Paraíba Pedro Américo, which measures more than 7 meters. wide and 4 meters high and is the main highlight of the Noble Hall.

Located on the top floor of the Ipiranga Museum, the observation deck, one of the new features of the reopening, provides a 360º view of the capital of São Paulo. Interestingly, before the renovation, this area was empty and now it is open to visitors. explored and discovered by the public!

Restored French Garden

In addition to restoring the monumental building, the renovation gave new life to the French Garden , which features geometric shapes, perfect symmetry and wide, well-defined paths. Two original fountains, which were demolished in 1972, were also rebuilt; in addition, all the public lighting in the area was restored and modernized.

  • Weekly batch of tickets every Friday at 10am on the Sympla platform.
  • Free entry until November 6th , with a limit of 8 tickets per CPF
