An intervention by Brazilian artist
Tulio Dek is about to debut, on Sunday, October 25th, at Jardim do Torel, in Lisbon. With the aim of promoting reflection on preservation and deforestation, the artist will install 500 stumps of severed trees, with heights between 50 and 85 centimeters and diameters of 20 to 50 centimeters, throughout the immense green area of the park.
The curator of the National Museum of Contemporary Art, in Lisbon,
Rui Afonso Santos , states that Tulio Dek's intervention, in addition to being “unique in its kind, due to its quality, is extremely rare in the Portuguese artistic panorama”. He highlights that “interventions on this scale and with this nature have never been carried out in Portugal” At the end of the route, near the fountain, a wooden hut, painted by the artist, will be installed as a shelter, a place of welcome, where bags with seeds from nine trees native to Portugal will be available. The public will be able to take handfuls of these seeds to plant in other locations.
