Embracing imperfections and being able to see beauty in them has become a real trend in art, design and architecture. In Japan, artist
Ken'ichiro Taniguchi was inspired by the crack patterns in the streets to create sculptures.
The artist makes use of a Japanese concept called "hecomi", which means
crack , when observing and filling different
urban landscapes .
Using clear film and yellow plastic, he creates
bendable sculptures that transform ordinary street scars into diverse works of art. Each of the creations is named according to the
location of the crack that served as a mold.
Taniguchi's art, reminiscent of origami and traditional Japanese practices, resonates with a quiet exploration of space and time, offering a unique blend of
artistic ingenuity and cultural context .
