If you search for Yabitsu City on Google, you won't find much information: there is no news about tourism, urban development or even abundant images of the area. That's why it is considered a "ghost town". The small town has been experiencing a steady decline in the number of residents. Empty houses and silence often dominate the area.
But now a new art project has brought light to the city – literally speaking. The ‘ Yabitsu Light Up Project ’ is a light installation led by Japanese company Takasho Digitec Corporation in collaboration with the Kurashicharu Yabitsu Operating Association and Arida City.

Wanting to highlight this feeling of loneliness, Takasho Digitec Co. created a vibrant light show that illuminates the empty houses in various hues. The reflection in the water was one of the biggest highlights that won the project admirers all over Japan. Source: Designboom
