Far beyond decorating a project, art has the power to evoke emotions, revive memories, and create a sense of belonging. Therefore, it is essential to think about how to incorporate works of various formats into interior design projects. Straying from the obvious can be a way to surprise and bring personality to the decor, as we show in the selection of projects below. So, check out the following creative ideas on how to display artworks in the projects.

1. Powerful entry hall

The entry hall of this apartment, designed by architects João Gabriel Küster Cordeiro and Arthur Felipe Brizola from the firm Kuster Brizola Arquitetos, features a mural created by artist Rômulo Lass, which goes beyond functionality and assumes a leading role in the project. The artwork was used as an important aesthetic layer in the design and connects the dining room to the kitchen, as well as mimicking the door to the restroom and pantry. The mosaic marble floor completes the composition with modernist airs, flowing through the kitchen and bringing fluidity between the projects.

2. Look up

The project signed by the Milcent Architecture firm at CASACOR Bahia 2024 paid tribute to Bahian art. The duo of architects created a fluid and centralized layout to facilitate circulation. Additionally, the fluidity and lightness are also marked by the choice of organic furniture with rounded finishes and the use of natural elements such as stones, present on the floor and furniture. An interesting detail is found at the top: a painting, referencing local culture, was created on the upper part of the wall and the ceiling.

3. Unusual highlight

In this renovation project led by architects Carolina Escada and Patricia Landau from Escala Arquitetura, the artwork by Marcelo Eco steals the scene in the living area. Installed at the top of the wall that closes the second floor, the panel dialogues with the color palette of the rest of the project. The clients wanted a cheerful house filled with colorful objects. Therefore, to avoid a visual overload and fatigue over time, the architects adopted white walls and punctuated color in the adornments, some furniture, and especially the green lacquered wood panel, which extends from the dining area to the playroom. "We started with tones extracted from nature, such as green and blue, and complemented with reds and oranges, like the immense rug in the living area," explains Patricia.

4. Tapestry in the kitchen

Signed by architects Bruno Reis and Helena Kallas from Mandril Arquitetura, the project for this kitchen in CASACOR São Paulo 2024 highlights the color blue, which directly dialogues with the tapestry of Luiz Carlos Alberti, installed on the wall. With 55 m², the project takes advantage of the duo's experience in creating, especially for the exhibition, a collection of vases and lamp bases displayed in the project. The architects also designed the handcrafted tiles that make up the tabletop and used a 100% natural blue pigment.

5. Mix of styles

The resident's art collection was the guiding thread of the project of this apartment by architect Rodolfo Consoli. Among many interesting compositions, the arrangement made around the vintage MP97 sofa by Percival Lafer stands out, accompanied by the photograph of Maritza Caneca, the sculpture by Ascânio MMM, positioned on the floor, and the pair of orange and yellow reliefs by Galvão. To complete the project, the professional chose a maxi checkered black and white rug that strays from the ordinary and adds even more personality.

6. Artistic painting

Designed for a laid-back chef, this project from CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2019 showcases a unpretentious decoration, signed by Paula Neder and the Coletivo PN+. The inspiration came from the high-low concept, which mixes sophisticated high-design pieces with accessible, salvaged or family heirloom items. Thus, creative and low-cost solutions appear throughout the space, such as the artistic ceiling painting, featuring organic forms hand-painted by illustrator and designer Clode Imperial.

7. Colorful panel

This apartment became a green refuge after undergoing renovations with a project by architect Paula Neder. The couple wanted to live in a sort of urban forest. "Our goal was to bring nature inside the projects, and to achieve that, we prioritized the choice of natural materials and added many plants," emphasizes Paula. To add color, Paula's proposal was to invert the logic. Instead of opting for colorful furniture and accessories, she wanted to emphasize the walls. The highlight is in the living area, which received a ceramic panel in shades of blue and green, created by Coletivo Muda.

8. Provocative art

With sensuality and suggestive hints, this project by the Play Architecture and Design office explores various possibilities to stimulate love relationships. From the giant bed to pieces that inspire fetishes, through velvet textures and lights, everything evokes provocative art. (Luiza Ananias/CASACOR)

Originally, the building that hosted CASACOR Minas Gerais 2024 was a motel. This historical past was the starting point for the project that Marcelo Alvarenga and Juliana Figueiró from Play Arquitetura created for the exhibition. The proposal for the Suite of Love evoked seductive interior architecture, combining sensuality and warmth. A giant bed, pieces that inspire fetishes, velvety textures, provocative artworks, and cozy lighting compose an atmosphere capable of stirring sensations and creating fantasies.

9. Books as sculpture

In this apartment, designed by the firm 222 Arquitetura, different styles coexist in harmony. The vintage meets the industrial style, both forming the perfect backdrop for the resident's art and design collection. To achieve this, the architects opted for a neutral base, ideal for showcasing the salvaged treasures and familial heirlooms. In the living room, an unusual arrangement for books stands out, positioned in a tower with a wider base that tapers at the top. In this way, the publications are also displayed as works of art.

10. Artsy entry hall

Karolinna Venturi - Hall da Casa. This space of the mansion recalls the architects of yesteryear, times when they themselves developed the pieces of their projects because options were scarce. For the design of the project, the architect draws inspiration from haute couture, where everything is made to measure and each creation is exclusive. With art as the protagonist, the composition is marked by an explosion of colors and a mix of materials. The pieces designed especially for the project are the highlights, such as: ceiling structure with Murano glasses, a light fixture made by a ceramist, a piece of the sideboard with the application of a work by a local artist, a bookshelf salvaged from an antique store, and a support bench covered with rugs. At CASACOR Paraná 2024, architect Karolinna Venturi drew inspiration from architects of the past when there weren’t as many decoration options on the market and they developed their own project pieces. In this hall, everything was custom-made, and each creation is exclusive. With art as the protagonist, the composition bursts with colorful explosions and material mixtures. Highlights include the ceiling structure with Murano glass, a light fixture crafted by a ceramist, a sideboard piece featuring a work by a local artist, a bookshelf sourced from an antique shop, and a support bench covered in rugs.

11. Design-art

Signed by the MAR Arquitetura firm, led by architects Maria Juliana Galvão and Alexia Carvalho, this apartment features a living room visually integrated with the greenery present on the street. The professionals opted for a low bench that enhances the view and also acts as a piece of art—the piece is covered with tiles from Panacea Phantastica, by artist Adriana Varejão. The flexible layout, replacing the traditional TV rack with movable stools, also brings lightness to the project.

12. Sculptures on the wall

The new apartment of the acting couple Lázaro Ramos and Taís Araújo gained integration and personality thanks to the project led by architects Carolina Escada and Patricia Landau from the firm Escala Arquitetura. The decor was guided by the selection of furniture with Brazilian design and was designed to evoke a sense of belonging for the residents. In addition, all artworks and objects linked to the couple's history were incorporated into the new home, such as the necklace created by artist Nádia Taquary at the top of the wall, accompanied by the sculpture by Willi de Carvalho and the backlight by Rodrigo Bueno.
