November is here and, with it, the cultural calendar of the city of
São Paulo is packed with
exhibitions to visit and explore! Among the exhibitions this month, highlights include
Lina Bo Bardi at MAM, the reopening of
Casa das Rosas , on Av. Paulista, and the last days of "
Terror in Cinema " at MIS. Below, we list
6 exhibitions that you can't miss this
November in the capital of São Paulo!
1. Lina Bo Bardi and MAM in the Park - MAM (Ibirapuera Park)
In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo brings to the public an exhibition that seeks to reflect on the renovation of its headquarters carried out in the early 1980s by the Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1922), and on the legacy that this project left. Curated by Gabriela Gotoda and Pedro Nery, the exhibition Lina Bo Bardi and MAM in the Park occupies the Paulo Mendes de Almeida Library until January 28, 2024 with documents and drawings from Lina's project. 2. Living with robots - Japan House
Designed to interact with humans in a
friendly, safe and
collaborative way, "friendly robots" are the theme of the exhibition “
Living with robots ”, which takes place from
November 14, 2023 to
March 31, 2024 , on the ground floor of
Japan House São Paulo. The exhibition aims to portray
particular aspects of the development of Japanese robots, offering the opportunity to reflect on
living with them in a friendly way, as well as how they are incorporated into
Japanese daily life .
3. Reopening of the House of Roses - Paulista Avenue
After being closed for
two years for restoration, the public can once again visit
Casa das Rosas , designed by the Ramos de Azevedo office (the same one behind the iconic Theatro Municipal and the Mercado Municipal). The space now has
more spaces for exhibitions, and the organization's
proposal is to focus on
visual arts and other
artistic identities , such as performances.
4. METADATA - Fiesp Cultural Center (Paulista Avenue)
"
METADATA - The Invisible World " seeks a dialogue between
art and
technology , transforming
historical data from the city of São Paulo in
real time , such as traffic patterns, climate fluctuations and market, with historical data sets, revealing the
evolution of the city over time in a creative way.
5. Melissa Cody: Woven Skies - MASP
Melissa Cody, Under Cover of Webbed Skies [Sob o manto de céus tramados], 2021 / (Cortesia da artista e Garth Greenan Gallery/CASACOR)
Until
January 21, 2024 , MASP hosts the exhibition "
Melissa Cody: woven skies ", which brings together
26 textile works by the North American artist that mix traditional symbols and patterns of Navajo tapestry with personal references, ranging from the pixelated world of computers to the landscapes of Arizona.
6. "Horror in the cinema" - MIS
Until
November 19, 2023 , curated by
André Sturm , MIS presents the exhibition "
Horror in Cinema ", which celebrates an audiovisual genre almost as old as cinema itself. Through an
engaging, impressive and
immersive journey, visitors will be able to revisit and experience iconic moments in the history of the horror genre.
