"Innovations" exhibition is open to the public at the Museum of Tomorrow

"Brazilian Way" on display Brazilian inventiveness is the talk of the town at the Museum of Tomorrow , located in Rio's port area. The exhibition “Innovations – Creations in the Brazilian Style” opens today (25) and pays homage to the unique creativity of the Tupiniquim people. With approximately 600 m² and 39 inventions, this is the museum's first temporary exhibition (it will be on display until October 22). "The complex challenges for the coming decades will require original ideas that allow us to keep up with the countless disruptive processes that characterize our time. Innovating, creating new forms and lines of action, has become essential”, highlights Luiz Alberto, curator of the Museum of Tomorrow and the exhibition, alongside Leonardo Menezes. From simple ideas, such as a skateboard backpack that helps you avoid traffic, to more robust inventions, such as the Amazon-1 satellite, developed by the National Institute for Space Research, the projects are mostly signed by anonymous inventors and that they exhibit to the public for the first time. The association with the “Brazilian way” in “Inovanças” is inevitable and very timely, and proves that Brazilian creativity can materialize in the most planned way or even in a fortuitous manner. The important thing is is that it is always focused on the future and the common good. The exhibition was set up without walls and is divided into seven areas, check out each one below: 1 - Pyahu-Açu (“big news” in Tupi-Guarani): In this introductory area, visitors are presented with videos that present the key concepts of the exhibition. On screens, Brazilian innovators talk about their creative processes and inventions. .

Pyahu-Açu (“novidade grande”, em tupi-guarani): Nesta área introdutória, o visitante se depara com vídeos que apresentam os conceitos-chave da exposição. Em telas, inovadores brasileiros falam de seus processos criativos e de seus inventos. (Raquel Cunha)

2 - Inspirais: This area presents creations that were inspired by nature. Understanding the ballet of birds, for example, led to experiments that gave rise to modern aircraft. In this search for excellence, researchers combine biology, engineering, design and architecture. 3 - Errances: Here, the process of creation and its deviations are valued. All of this is important to reach the final goal. Life “errrs” in abundance: the mutations that give rise to the cycle of evolution of species are derivations of the code genetic of countless ancestors.

5 - Inexspectata: (The unforeseen, the unexpected “inexpectata”, in Latin) Unpredictability is closely linked to innovations such as the biomembrane, a type of dressing made from latex extracted from Brazilian rubber trees, a case of “chance discovery” here. Much of the role of science and innovation in Brazil today is to respond to the surprises that arise along the way and turn the unexpected into an opportunity. 6 - Impromptu (“improvisation”, in Latin): The Brazilian art of creating solutions is the focus of this area. Inside a stilt house, experiences represent how the search for improvisation can reveal innovative solutions. 7 - Awani jö: Innovation does not have to be a solitary process. Doing things together (from the Yoruba, “awani jö”, or “we are together”) is re-emerging as a platform for more agile solutions. The final area of the exhibition shows how cooperation allows us to create alternatives, formulate ideas and reinvent sociocultural processes and contexts, workplaces, social services, arts and languages.
