On March 23, Galeria Athena will open its doors to a unique and historic exhibition, which marks the first time that the works of renowned artist Frans Krajcberg (1921-2017) and visionary architect and designer José Zanine Caldas (1919-2001) have been brought together. The exhibition, entitled "Krajcberg & Zanine" , is a delve into the friendship and mutual influence between these two icons of Brazilian culture, highlighting their shared concern for the environment and the sustainable use of wood .

Krajcberg and Zanine were close friends and their relationship, until now little known, will be revealed in this exhibition, the result of a partnership between Galeria Athena and Dilettante42. The show will present around 20 pieces , including sculptures by Krajcberg from the 1960s and 1970s, furniture and also a sculpture by Zanine. “Krajcberg and Zanine were great friends and had a very close relationship with nature. There is a dialogue between their works, and the idea of the exhibition is to present the best of each of them, with important and extremely representative pieces ”, says Liecil Oliveira, one of the partners of Galeria Athena.
Also noteworthy are Krajcberg's sculptures from the "Shadow" series, which capture the essence of nature through shadows projected onto wooden reliefs, while Zanine will be represented by his iconic furniture pieces, known as "Móveis Denúncia", which raise awareness about deforestation in the Atlantic Forest.

The exhibition also explores the influence of the city of Nova Viçosa , in Bahia, on the careers of these two artists. It was there that Zanine found inspiration for his works and built a lasting relationship with Krajcberg, who had lived in the city since 1972. The legacy of these artists in the city is invaluable, both in terms of artistic production and environmental awareness .
