The great master Abraham Palatnik , who passed away in May at the age of 92, is the subject of the first edition of the series of free meetings promoted by Art Unlimited, in partnership with Agência Galo, starting on Saturday, June 27th, at 11 am. Chronicles of Art Unlimited: the stories and behind the scenes of the exhibitions told by those who make them will be broadcast live on YouTube and the Zoom platform. The producers and curators of the largest retrospective exhibition ever held about Palatnik will reveal to participants their perceptions and experiences surrounding the number one artist in kinetic art. Registrations must be made via the link . “It is an honor for us to join with names we admire in paying tribute to Abraham Palatnik, an artist with whom we had the opportunity to work and learn so much,” adds curator Pieter Tjabbes. The meetings will start with the exhibition Abraham Palatnik – The Reinvention of Painting , a show with more than 85 works by the artist, including paintings, cinechromatic devices, kinetic and playful objects, furniture and project drawings that toured, between 2013 and 2017, at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Brasília (CCBB-DF), Museu Oscar Niemeyer (Curitiba), MAM SP, Fundação Iberê Camargo (Porto Alegre) and Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Rio de Janeiro (CCBB-RJ), respectively. The son of Russian parents, Abraham Palatnik was born in Natal (PE) in 1928, but was raised in Tel Aviv. While still in Israel, he was already producing landscape, portrait and still life paintings. He returned to Brazil and settled in Rio de Janeiro in the second half of the 1940s, where he redefined his style after visiting the Dom Pedro II Psychiatric Hospital in Engenho de Dentro and coming into contact with the artistic productions of schizophrenic patients, guided by the psychiatrist Nise da Silveira. With a degree in Engineering, he implemented his knowledge in his production, aligning art and technology. Palatnik is a great exponent of kinetic art, launching a model of painting with moving light.
