May 1st marks an important and memorable date for workers: Labor Day. This year, anyone strolling along Paulista Avenue, near Conjunto Nacional, will be in for a pleasant surprise: a complete exhibition by renowned Brazilian artist
Eduardo Kobra. , in honor of the working class.
The artist embraced the cause and the movement is part of the 8th
edition of the Paulista Exhibition , an initiative of the General Workers' Union – UGT. The theme chosen for 2022 was: The 200 Years of Independence and We, Workers . “You can take a magnifying glass and analyze pictures and paintings of the Proclamation of Independence and you won’t find any workers in them. There are members of the court, servants and slaves. None of them are paid,” says Ricardo Patah, president of the UGT, who considers it appropriate to moment for this recognition.
Coordinated by the UGT Secretariat for Organization and Trade Union Policies and by Maná Produções, Comunicações e Eventos, the Paulista Exhibition will occupy one kilometer of the cycle path on the city's main artery, Avenida Paulista, between Rua Augusta and Rua Campinas Avenue.
