Among the many honorees this year at CASACOR Pernambuco is the great artist Montez Magno , with his works exhibited in the space created by architect José Marton . The Montez Magno Gallery is a tribute to the life and work of an artist who, with all his talent and vision, helped shape Brazilian art. For Marton, this tribute goes beyond the visual: it is a celebration of Montez's thinking. "He was chosen because he is an important and relevant artist from Pernambuco," highlights the architect.

Montez Magno (1934-2023) always sought out new things. His career, marked by more than six decades of production, reveals a restless artist who was passionate about creative freedom . Born in Timbaúba, Pernambuco, he defied conventions by moving through different artistic languages, always refusing labels. In his hands, the northeastern landscape took on abstract forms , but charged with a poetic force that transcended the regional and touched the universal. The artist accumulated more than 1,500 works that today make up his legacy, which remains alive and vibrant.

Montez had a deep connection with Eastern philosophies , especially Zen Buddhism and Tantra, which influenced not only his creations, but also his way of life. His production is one of the most varied in contemporary Brazilian art . He worked with different media, such as painting, sculpture, objects, mobiles and installations, always avoiding being tied to a single style or technique. In a 2011 interview, Montez stated: "I have always been in favor of the freedom to do whatever you want. So much so that I have a motto: ' Liberarte '."

The Montez Magno Gallery is an invitation to discover not only the artist's creations, but also the soul of someone who dedicated himself to exploring the limits of art. Through this environment, Montez is remembered as a master of freedom, someone who made his life and work a path of resistance, introspection and transformation . A legacy that now finds new ways to dialogue with the present and continue to inspire generations.
