The feelings and perceptions of children and adolescents with
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can now be experienced in an artistic way in an interactive exhibition inaugurated in Curitiba (PR). Called
House of Senses , the exhibition has been on display since 1st April, occupying an exhibition area of 300 square meters at
ParkShoppingBarigüi , where it will be open until
April 24 .

In order to contribute to
inclusion ,
acceptance and
knowledge about the condition – which currently affects
one in every 44 children in the world –, the exhibition seeks to bring a sensory and playful experience within this universe. “Everyone sees the world in their own way and People with ASD see and interpret reality in an even more individual way. The curator's proposal is to offer an
unprecedented experience that talks about social inclusion through art ”, says Nonnie Fenianos, architect at Montenegro Produções Culturais. The project consists of a scenic construction of a house – with rooms such as a bedroom and kitchen – where the internal spaces were
designed based on the impressions of children with autism in artistic reinterpretations.
The experience, designed by renowned artists, designers and architects, is distributed in
sensory environments that stimulate the visitor's five senses. "These are readings, excerpts and creations idealized from the
sensitive universe of children and adolescents with autism that will surprise and excite the public”, details Carolina Montenegro, manager of Montenegro Cultural Productions. In addition, the project has the support of the largest research institutes on ASD:
Tismoo , the first startup in medicine and genetic testing for autism, and The
Muotri Lab (from the University of San Diego, United States), which investigates the mechanisms fundamental for brain development and disorders such as autism.
After the season in Curitiba, Casa dos Sentidos will pass through São Paulo and Brasília and, finally, will land in California, in the United States.
