Since December 9, the Bardi Institute has been presenting a permanent exhibition of folk art and textiles by
Lina Bo and PM Bardi at the
Casa de Vidro in São Paulo. The exhibition, a result of the CAU/SP Partnership - Architecture and Urban Planning Council of São Paulo, brings together hundreds of household objects, tools, dolls, ceramics and a variety of other items that reflect the Bardi couple's taste for human endeavor, especially that of the Brazilian people.
In September 2022, the
“Conservation and Expography Project: Collection of objects and fabrics of popular art by Lina Bo and PM Bardi" was included in the public call notice 006 PAT - Cultural, Support for Technical Assistance for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and the actions of CAU/SP which aims to recognize and value the work of architects and urban planners in the process of preservation and conservation of cultural assets beyond buildings.
The project sought to solve museum issues related to the conservation and exhibition of objects of cultural and historical value, gathered in cabinets on the premises of the Glass House and unknown to the visiting public, researchers, professionals and society in general.
With the project, two cabinets were transformed to house the permanent exhibition at the Glass House , with objects that have traveled the world in important museum exhibitions and were presented in the inaugural exhibition at the MASP headquarters on Paulista Avenue in 1969: “The Hand of the Brazilian People”, curated and designed by Lina Bo Bardi. The exhibition was also held at the museum in 2016.
For the Institute's curator,
Renato Anelli , the permanent exhibition reinforces an important trait of the Bardi couple, which is to generate knowledge and share it. “The project, in the context of PAT, encourages the preservation of the country's cultural memory, contributing to broadening the perception of architecture and the role of CAU/SP in this field”, comments Anelli. The project was conceived by Anna Carboncini, an advisor to the Institute and responsible for the Bardi collection for almost two decades, who died in November 2022.
