Chinese artist
Ai Weiwei will hold an exhibition next month at the
Design Museum in London, where he will present a work that is undoubtedly remarkable. Not only for the amount of detail, but also for bringing back memories of an iconic series of paintings by
Claude Monet : Water Lilies, one of the
French artist's most famous paintings .

In addition to the very faithful reproduction of Monet's work, Ai Weiwei innovates by using
Lego pieces instead of the oil paint of the original work – approximately
650 thousand units and 22 different colors.

The artist wanted to pay
homage to his origins while still maintaining the classic feel of Monet's work. While his version depicts the idyllic lily ponds of Monet's home in Giverny, France, he also included a "dark portal" on the right side – alluding to his childhood in the
Chinese region of Xinjiang . The monument is part of a series of works by the artist, titled "
Ai Weiwei: Making Sense ", which will be on display at the Design Museum in London, UK, from
April 7 to July 30 . Information: CNN
