20 years since the event began in Miami . The event that takes place annually in Florida already has a date set for the 2022 edition: it will take place between
December 1st and 3rd , at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Art Basel was an example of "from zero to top". The fair was born at a turbulent time: its opening was scheduled for
December 2001 , but was
postponed until the following year because of the attack on the Twin Towers.

The story of Art Basel Miami begins with collector
Norman Braman . He and his wife were among the few Americans who attended Art Basel in Switzerland in the 1980s. Having collected several works on his trips to Switzerland, Braman became close to
Lorenzo Rudolf , the fair's director, and head of communications,
Sam Keller - who were instrumental in bringing the show to the United States. It was Braman who championed the idea that
Art Basel in the US should take place in
Miami Beach . From there, the trio went looking for suitable infrastructure near the
Miami Convention Center - where the event is still held today - to create a welcoming space that
inspires people from all over the world . There were more than 1,500 hotel rooms just to welcome visitors to the first event that took place in 2002. Currently, in addition to Miami, there are also editions of Art Basel in Paris and Hong Kong.

Magalí Arriola , director of the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporaneo, in Mexico. Tickets are being sold on the show's website, and
