On March 31, 2016, Zaha Hadid left us. Victim of a heart attack, the architect was hospitalized in Miami, USA, to treat bronchitis. Her legacy, however, continues to echo through the ZHA office, which she founded. and which recently gained prominence on design and architecture portals due to the announcement of a new project: a skyscraper in the heart of New York. With a budget of 12 billion dollars, the construction of the building - which should be around 420 m high - is still in the negotiation phase, but everything indicates that it will soon be implemented. The idea is to renovate the building that already existing on the site (666 Fifth Avenue, between 52nd and 53rd streets) and transform it into a mixed-use space, with residential units, commercial units and an 11-story hotel. The project was commissioned by the company Kushner Properties, alongside Vornado Realty Trust, which co-owns the existing building on the land. If all goes well, the development will begin construction in 2019 and is expected to be completed by 2025. Now, we just have to keep our fingers crossed.
