The
Shiroiya Hotel is a hotel for those who are passionate about design and architecture. Located in Maebashi, a city just two hours drive from Tokyo, the hotel was created by big international names. The design and interiors were done by master
Sou Fujimoto while the rooms are designed by professionals such as
Michele de Lucchi ,
Jasper Morrison and
Leandro Erlich . According to the
website designboom , it was conceived to be a place where locals and travelers can relax and enjoy art, food and nature.

There are two main components: the “historic tower”, which corresponds to the previously existing hotel building from the 1970s; and the “green tower”, the new building that appears outside in an undulating manner in the landscape.

The "historic tower" contains 17 rooms, many of them designed by creative minds from around the world and each with its own unique style. The rooms by Italian architect
Michele de Lucchi and British designer
Jasper Morrison , for example, use wood to great effect. Fujimoto incorporates vegetation and a sense of minimalism.
