For those of us who can’t wait for the sunny summer days, the idea of enjoying a nice meal, with a refreshing drink in hand and a charming balcony to cozy up on seems too good to be true. But it doesn’t have to be: many restaurants in São Paulo offer charming outdoor areas where you can enjoy your lunches and dinners al fresco – even on colder days, as many of them have heaters and blankets for the comfort of their customers. Check out our list and enjoy!

Papaya

Opened in 2021, Papaya Café is located in a charming corner house in Itaim Bibi, with walls covered in papaya tones. The kitchen is run by chef Walter Queiroz , who has prepared comfort food recipes especially for colder days. The Southern Italian climate is present everywhere: from the architectural design, with Mediterranean inspiration, to the landscaping and to the menu, with drinks inspired by the Amalfi Coast by bartender Igor Guimarães . The dining room, balcony and outdoor area are divided between the two floors of the residence, where customers can enjoy a variety of pastas , such as the Yam Gnocchi with truffled Parmesan cream with crispy pizza dough and Parma ham (R$72), the Penne alla Vodka (R$65) and the Rigatoni al ragú Bolognese (R$61). Address: 1051 Pedroso Alvarenga Street – Itaim Bibi, Sao Paulo/SP Opening hours (including holidays): Sunday and Monday from 12:00 to 00:00; Tuesday to Saturday from 12:00 to 01:00 Telephone: (11) 3168-1667 / (11) 93962-8160

Carmella

Under the command of event planner Isabella de Barros and pastry chef Lucca Guilger , Carmella is an old café and pâtisserie that has a new look with a complete menu with starters, hot and cold dishes, sandwiches, an executive menu and, of course, the sweets and chocolates that made the place famous . Located in the Pinheiros neighborhood, the spacious and pleasant space has a look inspired by Italy, with umbrellas and straw ceiling, as well as Sicilian lemons in the decoration. It is worth checking out the Spaghetti with Pesto with Burrata Stracciatella and Sun-Dried Tomato Quenelle (R$69) and the Filet Mignon with Mustard Sauce and Potato Gratin with Funghi (R$94), new on the menu. Address: 199 Vupabussu Street – Pinheiros, Sao Paulo/SP Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 8pm Phone: (11) 93045-1989 / Email: contato@carmellapatisserie.com.br

Così , run by chef Renato Carioni , has a new look and a new address: now in Jardins , the restaurant that had been open for 11 years in Santa Cecília has moved to a building with 100 seats and three areas in total : a balcony, an indoor dining room and an upper dining room for events. The menu has two sides: one with classics that date back to the restaurant's opening; and the other with new dishes from Carioni's signature cuisine . On the menu, it's worth highlighting the Crab Cake – crab cake served with saffron mayonnaise (R$66), the Ditaline with carrot cream, tallegio fondata and toasted hazelnuts (R$89) and the Risotto di capesanti al pistacchio – pistachio risotto with scallop crudo and mullet roe (R$142). Lolla Osteria

A restaurant that occupies three floors of number 682 on Michigan Street in Brooklyn, São Paulo, the Italian Lolla Osteria's concept is to combine hospitality , gastronomy and emotional memory . On the ground floor, the production of fresh pasta and wine is concentrated, with a selected menu with more than 150 labels from different countries. On the first floor, the restaurant's vocation is reflected in the kitchen where the dishes are made. Finally, the rooftop , with retractable awnings and a bar, celebrates high-end cocktails. To whet your appetite, try the Arancini Caprese (R$32), a traditional tomato risotto dumpling stuffed with mozzarella and basil. Also noteworthy are two main dishes: the Taglietele nero cacio e pepe with grilled squid (R$77), which has fresh pasta with squid ink, grana padano sauce, a mix of dried peppers and grilled fresh squid; and the Lasagna Bolognese (R$ 78), prepared with fresh pasta, homemade Bolognese sauce, cheese sauce and candied tomatoes.
