Roth Architecture has designed an
organically shaped creative laboratory in Tulum, Mexico, made from
concrete and
palm fiber , with a form driven by the
"artistic will of nature." “The project was created from the
patterns and
artistic desires of nature,” the studio said. “The inspiration for this building, like many of the studio’s constructions, are the
organic, irregular but harmonious forms that we find in nature itself.”
Made of
reinforced concrete and
steel , the Fab Lab's narrow structure
directly wraps around the surrounding trees , with trunks extending into the interior.
Curved surfaces made of concrete also span the entire length to create
small overhangs and
protections for glass components.
Created to house machines such as 3D printers, thermoformers, laser cutters, water jets and a six-axis robotic arm, the interior of the space contains
varying heights. Source: Dezeen
